JUNE 2020:
Watching
Waterloo (crop 1)

(March 2020, before Covid-19 lockdown)
I spent about 30 minutes choosing my angle, without the camera to my
eye, before quickly grabbing the shot when the time was right.
I liked the overall balance of the scene, the shapes, lines and reflections
splitting the frame into distinct tonal areas. I tried to compose the
shot so they guided the eye around the frame towards the people, hopefully
settling for long enough on the central guy to discover on closer inspection
he is watching back.
As this is too small an image to properly see his eyes I have added
closer crops... please swipe to see them. I like the second image (crop
1), perhaps even more than the main image, as it is more direct to the
heart of the scene, so holds more initial impact. I did wonder whether
this should be my final version but decided the wider view held more
long term interest, growing on me the longer I thought about it.
The closer crops also show the noise in the image, not at all unattractive
to my eyes.
Thanks for looking.
If this image is the first of mine you have seen, or you are generally
new to my work, please know I'm always keen to make new contacts and
push my photography to wider horizons. If you like what you see, say
hello!
If you are able to help bring my photography to a larger audience, then
lets talk! I'd be glad to hear from you!
Finally, prints
of this image are available, starting at affordable prices to encourage
new collectors. Signed archival quality prints are strictly limited
in number. Your support is very much appreciated.
