Sulpher... an alternative industrial rock band consisting of Rob Holliday
(Guitar/Vocals) and Steve Monti (drums) with Andy Spillane (guitar).
They have been around for a while now, formed by Rob and Steve in early
2000 and releasing their debut album Spray in 2002. The record
received great acclaim, including receiving a 'Best British Heavy Metal
Band' award by Metal Hammer. However, due to touring commitments as
players with the likes of Marilyn Manson, The Prodigy, Jesus And Mary
Chain among others, their own music took a backseat for a few years.
Happily, they have been able to reform for the release of their well
overdue second album No One Will Ever Know which was released
31st August via SPV / Oblivion Records.
Despite the time lag between albums this record still feels like a natural
continuation of the first, very much keeping with the industrial rock
sound. As a fan of bands like early Nine Inch Nails and Stabbing Westward
(Wither Blister era) this is a welcomed much needed old-school blast
to the alternative scene.
Their recent show at The Haunt in Brighton was difficult to shoot, as
the smoke machine was working overtime for the whole set, and the band
were mostly silhouetted. I had to be patient to get these shots, shooting
when the fog cleared a little or when the band members came into thinner
air. Sadly it meant I couldn't catch any clear closer shots of Steve
Monti. Overall though, I like the atmospheric feel of the images. I
think they suit the music well.
No One Will Ever Know is available now, released through SPV
/ Oblivion
Records, and can be listened to and purchased via all the usual outlets.
